Noble Commons is a THOW (tiny house on wheels) community in coastal North Carolina.

We have created a beautiful place for you to park your THOW in order to live with integrity as neighbor and friend while practicing social and ecological responsibility. We purchased 14 acres of land in 2022 with the vision of creating a community of caring people. We believe in sharing resources, contributing according to your ability, making generous assumptions about people’s motives, and laughing a lot. After years of planning and wrestling with bureaucracy, we are finally opening our doors in 2025. We offer yearly, monthly, and weekly site leases.

    The concept

Whether you already own a THOW or are thinking about purchasing one, we invite you to explore if our community is a good place for you to put down roots for a while. We are especially reaching out to neurodiverse or neurodivergent individuals, couples, and families who are looking for a place to belong. We have room for 20 THOWs or converted shipping containers. We hope to have at least one rental available for people who want to visit but don’t have a home (yet). There are large community gardens, a timberframe building with a sleeping loft to hang out, a chicken coop where our egg producers live a happy life, an office that can be used for meetings, walking trails, a park area, and a dog/pet area.

The plan is to expand our amenities as more residents join us and express interests or bring special skills. We’d love to have a cow or some sheep, a workshop, and a gym. Other ideas include a co-working space for digital nomads, a mushroom barn, a meditation space, and a metal forge. The property is about 15 minutes from the beach and about 10 minutes from shopping and medical facilities. The home sites are surrounded by trees, giving everyone some privacy and a place to hang your hammock. If this sounds appealing to you, reach out for our reservation agreement.

    Commitments

We are committed to creating an inclusive and caring environment where disagreements are expected and can be resolved, where we assume that everyone is doing the best they can at any given moment, and where we learn to respect and appreciate each other’s uniqueness and quirks. Community decisions will be made by consent whenever possible. We are creating a tobacco free community to protect everyone’s health, including the critters’. No user of tobacco can become a resident. Whenever we can do something to protect the environment and everyone’s health, we will try to do so.
